Stephen W. Hendershott, aged 71, passed away on September 27th, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Steve was born in Montreal, Quebec Canada on November 15th, 1952. His family moved to Princeton, NJ in 1965 where he attended Princeton High School and later graduated from Pennington School. He went on to graduate from Rider College with a Bachelors in Mathematics.

He spent the summers of his younger years at Camp Nominingue, a boys camp north of Montreal in northern Quebec founded by his grandfather. Steve was a camper for many years and later a staff member. He had wonderful memories of the camp and how it shaped his life. His sons were campers and his family would spend a week enjoying the camp every summer.

Steve was a talented self taught musician who could play a variety of string instruments including; guitar, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo. He played in various bands in New Jersey that played bluegrass, classic rock, and folk covers. Steve was an avid hockey fan who played for many years with "Old Bucks" in Lawrenceville. He enjoyed coaching boys hockey teams including Lawrenceville Prep, Lawrence Flames, Notre Dame HS and The College of NJ.

Steve was active in many other sports and activities throughout his life. He loved to play tennis and was a talented woodworker, making various projects for friends and family. He was a member of the Nassau Gun Club in Princeton for many years.

Steve worked for AT&T and Bell Labs as an IT Developer and Architect in Piscataway, NJ. He later worked for Education Testing Service (ETS) as an IT computer director and architect who pioneered internet based testing. He was awarded a patent in 2013 for Systems and Methods for testing over a distributed network.

Steve is survived by his wife Jill, sons Kyle Nosal (Megan), Matt Nosal (Lori), daughter Rachel Vindigni (Jeremy), sisters Cathy Weber (David) and Caroline Jill Hendershott, nephews Scott Weber (Stephanie), Kevin Weber (Julie) and Chris Weber (Emily), four grandchildren; Juliet, Katelynn, Alexander and Skylar, and 5 grand nephews and nieces.

Donations can be made in Steve's name to the American Cancer Society and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

A Celebration Of Life to honor Steve will be held Saturday November 2, 2024 at the Princeton Italian American Club, 8 Founders Lane #3673, Princeton, NJ from 11:00-2:00pm
