Sophie Adamowicz Johnson, passed away on May 30 at the age of 100. She was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on Feb. 25, 1919 to Joseph and Pauline Romanetz. She attended schools in Perth Amboy and graduated high school in 1936, where she was very active in the girls varsity.
She resided in Edison, NJ before moving to Pennington in 1982.
She was employed by Federated Metals Division of Asarco and retired in 1981 as Administrative Assistant after 30 years of service.
She was a member of St. James R.C. Church of Pennington and the Lawrenceville Grange #170. Her passion was music and ballroom dancing.
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Pauline Romanetz;.her first husband Theodore Adamowicz in 1952, her second husband Robert B. Johnson in 2018; her daughter Kathleen Poulsen Soltis in 2013. She is also predeceased by her siblings and their spouses John Romanetz and Matilda Marie Eldridge and George, Jeanette Fasching and Joseph and Julia Chumer and John.
She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Helondovitch and her husband James of North Myrtle Beach, SC; a son-in-law John Soltis of Southport, NC, five grandchildren Jodi L. Kipila of Jackson, NJ, Staci DiMaggio of Jackson, NJ, Suzanne Helondovitch of Yardley, Pa, Christine Helondovitch of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., Robert Poulsen of Katy, Tx, eight great grandchildren, two nephews and a niece.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 3.in St. James Church, 115 E.Delaware Ave., Pennington Interment will be in Harbourton Cemetery.
