Ruth A.O. Predhome

Ruth Ackors Olmstead Predhome of Pennington, NJ passed away on January 7, 2024. She was 97.

Born in Trenton, NJ, to Daniel N. Olmstead and Martha Ackors Olmstead, Ruth was raised in Harbourton, NJ. She graduated from Pennington High School in 1943, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 1946.

Ruth began her nursing career at her alma mater, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, as a floor supervisor. She later worked as a private nurse in New Jersey. 

In 1950, Ruth wed Robert C. Predhome, also of Pennington. They were married 66 years, until his death in 2016.

She took a sabbatical from nursing to raise her children, Deborah Jean and Robert Thomas, but returned to the profession in the 1980s as a nurse in a private ophthalmology practice in Lawrenceville, NJ.

Ruth, a lifelong bird watcher and travel enthusiast, in retirement crisscrossed North America with her husband, Bob, in their RV. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, where a memorial service will be held on July 27, 2024 at 3:00 pm, 2688 Main Street, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: WNET/Thirteen, 825 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY 10019 or the Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Lasky and Robert Thomas Predhome, her grandson, Noah Kaye, and two great grandchildren, Tenley Kaye and Noah Kaye, Jr.
