Matthew J. Kearney, Jr.

Matthew J. Kearney Jr. passed away with his children by his side on February 7, 2022.
He was 95 years old. Born on January 10th to Matthew and Lou (Ziegler) Kearney in Morrisville,
Pennsylvania. He graduated from Trenton Catholic and Villanova University, and was a member
of ROTC. He married the love of his life, Moira Waldron Kearney, on May 6th 1950. They
resided in Pennington, New Jersey where they raised their five children.

Matt was a member of St. James Church for over 60 years where he was the church
organist and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for many years. He was also a
member of the Hopewell Country Club, where he enjoyed golfing with friends and pool time
with his family. His greatest joys always included family; playing the piano with everyone
gathered around, sailing with his siblings, and tending his garden.

Predeceased by his wife, Moira, his parents, his grandson, Ethan Townsend, his brother,
Jared Kearney, his sister, Joan Hillman, brothers-in-law Fred Hillman, Jim Leedy, Bill Waldron,
Paul Waldron, and sisters-in-laws Joan Waldron, Sheila Sindora, Karen Giovenetti, and Donna
Weisbrod.

He is survived by and greatly missed by his children, Michael Kearney, Marybeth
Blakeney (Jim), Mark Kearney (Kim), Meg Kearney Smith, and Matthew Kearney; his
grandchildren Matthew, William and Caitlin Kearney, Adrian Townsend, and Acacia Blakeney
(Jay), Benjamin Kearney and Christyn Raymond (Jay), Christopher and Kelly Esquilin, Jason
Smith (Jillian), Jared Smith (Alyssa) and Aubrey Hunt (Ryan), Hannah and Samuel Kearney; 12
great-grandchildren; his sister, Sally Leedy, brother, William Kearney (Joan); in-laws Jean
Kearney, and Beth Cliver (Glenn), and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on May 7th, 2022 at St. James Little Church in Pennington,
New Jersey. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am at the church followed by the funeral mass at
11:00 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Blackwell Memorial Home in Pennington,
New Jersey.
