Mary Ann Kaelin, a strong-willed and independent woman, passed away on April 2, 2023, in Pennington, New Jersey, at the age of 89. Mary Ann was born on August 21, 1933, in New Rochelle, New York, to Jean and Angelo Bollettieri. She was the oldest of three children and grew up in New Rochelle.
Mary Ann graduated from New Rochelle High School and pursued her passion for nursing by attending Lenox Hill Nursing School in New York City. She had a long and successful nursing career spanning over 30 years. In 1955, she married John Bernard Kaelin, and together they raised four children in both New Jersey and California.
Mary Ann was a smart, opinionated woman who was not afraid to speak her mind. She taught her children and grandchildren the importance of speaking up and taking charge when the situation called for it. Her home was always a place where friends and family were welcome. She was also known for her "Bollettieri" meatball recipe, which she passed down to her family as a treasured heirloom.
Mary Ann is survived by her children, Nancy Smith and husband Tim, Barbara Webb and husband Jim, Michael Kaelin, and Peggy Kaelin Dreer and husband Guenther, as well as her siblings, Barbara McQueen and Ray Bollettieri, and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann will be remembered as a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and dear friend to many. Her passing is a great loss to all who knew her, but her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and the memories she leaves behind. Rest in peace, Mary Ann Kaelin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
