Marjorie Jane Ruch, 90, of Ewing, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024 with family by her side.
Born in Trenton, she resided in Ewing for over 60 years. She was a graduate from Trenton Central High School, Class of 1951, and of New Jersey State Teachers College, Class of 1955. She pursued graduate studies at Temple University and New Jersey State Teachers College. Marjorie taught kindergarten and second grade at The Primary School in Pennington, NJ for six years. In 1957, Marjorie married George F. Ruch, Senior, honoring 63 years of marriage together.
For over 50 years, Marjorie had been an active member and volunteer with the Trenton Auxiliary Board of the Children's Home Society of New Jersey. Marjorie and the volunteers spent countless hours creating crafts to be sold at the annual "Brunch with Santa" held over the years at The Trenton Country Club and more recently, Notre Dame High School. She was a devout member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years serving various committees, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday School. Marjorie taught typing and keyboard skills for 14 years at the Pennington School. For ten years, she served as a dedicated member of Trenton State's Alumni Executive Board. Marjorie was a den mother to her two sons while they participated in the local Boy Scouts.
In her spare time, Marjorie found great pleasure in crafting, gardening, traveling and cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Daughter of the late Catherine Detwiler Saville and John G. Saville, wife of the late George F. Ruch, and predeceased sisters, Elaine Hadley and Edith Haedrich, she is survived by her two sons, George Jr., (Traci) of Ewing, Richard, of Ewing and daughter, Susan Townson (William) of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren: Olivia, Cameron, Amanda and Julia as well as nieces and nephews.
On behalf of Marjorie's family, they want to send their sincere appreciation to the staff at both Greenwood House of Ewing and Princeton's Carnegie Acute Rehabilitation Center for their care. A very special thank you to Princeton Medical Center's hospice team whose tender guidance, support and love eased Marjorie's transition through her spiritual journey.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for visitation at 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Blackwell Funeral Home, 21 North Main Street, Pennington, NJ 08534. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 7:00PM
