Maria Eugenia Chalarca Geller 48, of Pennington, NJ and formerly of Cali, Colombia (South America) passed away on October 15, 2021 at home with her husband and children. Maria passed away the morning following her 15th wedding anniversary after a long illness.
She is survived by her husband, Jason Geller and their children, whom she adored, Juan Phillip Geller, 12 and Mateo Alexander Geller, 9. Her in-laws Ann Geller and Jay Rappaport of Hamilton, NJ, Marc and Candace Geller and nephew, Makai Geller and niece, Kate Geller of East Windsor, NJ. At home in Colombia, her mother, Maria Celia Betancourt Delgado and siblings: Dora Esperanza Chalarca Betancourt , Henry Alberto Chalarca Betancourt, Juan Andres Chalarca Betancourt, and Liliana Betancourt. Nephews: Christian Andres Chalarca Betancourt and Alvaro and Andrei. God children: Cristopher Chalarca Palacio and Samanta Chalarca Palacio along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends in both Colombia and the US. Maria was predeceased by her loving father Juan de Dios Chalarca Ruiz.
Maria was born in Cali, Colombia. She grew up Cali and graduated at the top of her class at Carlos Holguin Lloreda High School. She was the first of her family to graduate from college, earning an Accounting degree from Universidad Santiago de Cali. She moved to the United States over 20 years ago. She proudly earned her citizenship with her family by her side. Maria worked at Thomasville Furniture in Princeton, NJ where she met her husband. She then enjoyed working at Child Care Connection in Ewing, NJ for many years. She also was active in the PTO at Stony Brook Elementary School.
Maria loved spending time with her boys more than anything else. She enjoyed traveling to Colombia to visit her family. She loved to laugh and smile. Maria was truly a beautiful lady.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by Blackwell Memorial Home of Pennington, NJ. A memorial gathering to celebrate Maria's life will take place Friday, October 22nd from 6 - 8pm EST. concluding with short prayer and service at 7:30pm. Burial will be private at St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamilton, NJ.
Donations may be made in Maria's honor to the wonderful organization Inheritance of Hope. They provided much support to Maria over the years.
