Margaret Ann Van Sant, 85 of Lawrence Township died on 4, January, at St. Joseph Skilled Nursing at Morris Hall.
She was predeceased by her parents, Daniel and Ann (Mooney) Carlen and her sister Rita Eldridge.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer A. Bradley and her partner Michael J. Glancey; her sister, Mary Lou and brother-in-law Carl Lauricella and her many nieces, nephews and their children whom she had a great fondness.
Margaret grew up in Pennington, NJ and developed her love for singing through listening to opera on the radio with her family. She received a music scholarship to the Villa Victoria Academy graduating in 1952. She participated in many activities and clubs (Assistant Humor Editor “Echoette”, Modern language, Victorian, Art and Music clubs, the choir etc). She sang in many groups over the years; these include the Saint James Choir, Villa Victoria Academy Chorus, Mercer County Community Chorus and The Voices of Harry Mulder.
She was a retired administrative assistant at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, NJ. For many years, she was a foster parent for the Children’s Home Society.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Monday January 11, at St James Church at 115 E Delaware Avenue, Pennington, NJ 08534, where family and friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton Township. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Margaret’s name to Saint Mary’s Assisted Living at Morris Hall (memo for Grace Gardens activities fund), 1 Bishop Drive, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648, to benefit outings and activities for the residents of Grace Gardens in the memory care unit.
