Leroy Stires

Ewing, NJ – Leroy (Roy) R. Stires, 73, died at home July 26, surrounded by family, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Roy was born on August 29, 1950. He was raised in Pennington and graduated from Hopewell Valley Central HS in 1968. After high school Roy attended technical school for electronics in Syracuse, NY. He then joined the Navy, serving on the USS Belknap out of Norfolk, VA. Following the Navy Roy worked for many years as a service technician for various companies until he retired in 2016. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golf, and watching his grandchildren play sports. Roy was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the NY Giants. Roy is predeceased by his parents, Earl D. and Betty Jean (Hart) Stires, and his sister Lynn (Stires) Davidson. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Linda (Crawford) Stires; his 3 children Layla Stires (Jim Gummel), Justin Stires and Christopher Stires; six grandchildren, Jewelya Stires, James, Delaney and Jarrett Gummel, Royce and Raquel Stires; his brothers Daniel Stires (Kathy), George Stires, and Wayne Stires (Sarah); two brothers in law Michael Crawford and Scott Davidson. Many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services for immediate family to be held Thursday, August 1 at the Blackwell Memorial Home in Pennington. Private interment to follow.
