Katherine Mary McManus Fellows, affectionately known as Kitty, passed away on Monday (Dec. 11) Kitty was born in New York City in October 1923 to John McManus and Catherine Nolan McManus. She married George Fellows in April 1947 and they moved to Bergenfield, NJ, where they raised their five children.
After George’s death in 1977, Kitty continued to live in Bergenfield and was active in several senior groups and as a parishioner of The Church of the Ascension in New Milford, NJ. She later moved to Ewing, NJ and continued her active social and volunteering life.
Kitty was a proud Irish-American and possessed a deep, unwavering faith. Her love of family came first and encompassed the extended family including nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends. Her twinkling blue eyes and outgoing personality are well-remembered by many who met her. She loved a ‘good cup of tea’, parties, good conversation, and was renowned for a well-stocked refrigerator.
Kitty was pre-deceased by her beloved husband, George; her loving parents; and her cherished siblings and their spouses: Helen and Phil Michaels, Peggy and John McGinley, and John and Doris McManus.
She is survived by five children: Katherine and George Bate, Mesa, AZ; Jean Fellows- and Anders Johansson, Manchester, NJ; Anne E. McCann, Pt. Pleasant, NJ; Bill and Judy Fellows, Newtown, PA; and George Fellows, Sacramento, CA. She was also the proud grandmother of eight: Katie Nolan-Denham, Sandy Hobart, Kerry Craft, Beth McGuire, Jennifer McCann, Nicole Fellows, Camden Fellows, and Andrew Fellows. Also, ‘GG’ to ten great-grandchildren and two great-great grandsons.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (Dec. 15) at 10:00am at St. James Church, Pennington. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St. Pennington (www.blackwellmh.com) and Friday 8:30am-9:30am in St. James Church.
