Julia Noelle Mooney, of Pennington, NJ, passed away unexpectedly at home on October 21, 2024. Julia was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was born at Princeton Hospital to Thomas Mooney Jr. and Cynthia Elizabeth (Shelmire) Mooney. Three years later she was joined by a brother, Samuel Thomas. Julia attended the Lawrence Township schools through eighth grade and spent her high school years at Hopewell Valley Central High School. Julia earned a B.S. in Psychology from Rowan University, where she was a member of Delta Phi Epsilon, and she went on to do graduate studies in the field. In 2011 she gave birth to her beloved son and the light of her life, Jackson Thomas Mooney.
Family, longtime friends, and work colleagues alike remember Julia for her intelligence, her sly sense of humor, and her keen intuition. She was known for an uncanny ability to capture the spot-on essence of an individual in a humorous gesture or phrase. Julia loved spending time with Jackson, who inherited her sense of humor. They enjoyed a number of inside jokes and sometimes even pranked each other. Julia was also a loving and loyal friend, sister, aunt, and daughter. Her father, Thomas, died in 2014, and she mourned him deeply.
Julia is survived by her son, Jackson Mooney; brother, Samuel Mooney (Laura); her aunt, Marion Mooney; and her mother, Cynthia Mooney (George Ljutich). She will be missed by her uncle and aunt, cousins, nephews and nieces, and stepsiblings. She will remain forever in the hearts of many friends, coworkers, and extended family members. Friends and family may call at Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main Street, Pennington NJ on Wednesday, October 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. A brief service will be held at 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, family and friends may make memorial donations to Womanspace at womanspace.org.
