Jack, as he was known to family and friends, passed away on at the age of 88 of natural causes. He was a 10-year veteran of the reserves and active duty with the rank of Sergeant 1st class. Jack was an AT&T pioneer who worked his way up from lineman to manager/supervisor over his career with NJ Bell and AT&T. Born in Ewing on a dairy farm, he was a graduate of the class of 1951 of Pennington High School and was a member of Future Farmers of America. He married his high school sweetheart Vera Sked. Jack was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. He lived his entire adult life in Pennington, spending the last year and a half in assisted living in Sewell, NJ.
Jack is survived by his daughter Patricia and son-in-law Harry Hart, his sister Ruth and brother-in-law Harry Bartazawitz, his 6 grandchildren Andrew Hart and his husband Raynard Richards, Stephen Hart, Jessica Rudderow (née Hart) and her husband Mark Rudderow, Tiffany Green (née Hart), Jacquelynn Woolman (née Hart) and her husband Frank Woolman and Harry Hart IV, his 9 great grandchildren Ryan, Taylor, Dylan, Julian, Charlie, Elenor, Vivienne, Mark and Frank, as well as 7 nieces and nephews and their children.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Vera Mable (née Sked), his sister Elaine and husband Fred Cain, his brother-in-law Ogden, brother-in-law Richard, sister-in-law Carol Sked, sister-in-law Norma and her husbands Ray Wagner and Fred Rasweiler.
Friends may call at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 North Main St., Pennington from 10:00 a.m on Monday, Sept. 27. A service of Remembrance will follow at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Nancy Mikoski, pastor of the Pennington Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be private in the Pennington Cemetery. Masks will be required in order to attend services at the funeral home.
