Herta (Rasch) Clements, of New Hope, PA entered into God’s care on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023.
Herta was born on July 6th, 1940 to Herta (Hube) and Albert Rasch who were German immigrants. The family lived above the bar and restaurant her parents owned at 8th and Bristol streets in the Hunting Park section of Philadelphia. She was a 1958 graduate of Olney High School. From there, she attended to get Millersville State University in from which she received a degree in higher education in 1962. She was married in August 1963 to James (Jim) Martin Clements of Philadelphia. They moved to the Oak Lane Section of Philadelphia and had three children Herta, Johanna and James. She worked as a teacher in various schools in the Phildelphia area during the time she and Jim lived in the Oak Lane neighborhood. In 1980, she moved with her three children to Jenkintown, PA. She then began a career as a Nursing Home Administrator. She was the Facilities Administrator of Cathedral Village for many years before retiring in 2010. In addition, Herta served on the Board of Directors of KenCrest Services, an organization which provides support to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families throughout Pennsylvania. In 2017, Herta relocated to the Lambertville / New Hope area.
Throughout her life, Herta was very involved in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Herta embraced the church community and was an active participant in all aspects of the church. She was active in the choir and also served multiple terms as President of Church Council. In recent years, she was an active member of “The Family of God” Lutheran Church in Buckingham, PA.
Herta was also active in the Abington choral club for many years. While living in Jenkintown she became involved in the Jenkintown Music Theater as stage crew manager. Herta was a huge fan of Broadway musicals and attended many.
As an incredible Philadelphia sports fan, she followed all Philadelphia teams with great enthusiasm. Her favorite sport was football, particularly the Kutztown Golden Bears, where her son Jimmy has been the Head Football Coach for the last 9 years.
Herta was an avid reader, a pastime she shared with her daughter Herta. As well as her love of gardening and cooking. Herta was an exceptional cook, skills she passed on to her daughter Johanna; and of course, her love of sports, which she had in common with her son James.
Herta was predeceased by her sister, Gertrude (Rasch) Pfeifer.
She is survived by her children; Herta (Clements) Tucker husband Christopher T. Tucker, Johanna (Clements) Ludwig husband John W. Ludwig; and James F. Clements and wife Susan (Fordyce) Clements. Also, her grandchildren, Grace, Ryan and Patrick Tucker of Fort Washington, PA. John and Wilhelmina Ludwig of Lambertville, NJ and Hayden and Amelia Clements of Trappe, Pa. She is also survived by her brother Albert Rasch and his wife Catherine Rasch of Costa Mesa, CA.
Herta brought great enthusiasm and positive energy everywhere she went, and she was always very appreciative and very easy to make happy. It is safe to say that she was happiest when spending time with her family and particularly appreciative of any time she got to spend with her grandchildren. She mentioned all the time how grateful she was to watch them all grow up.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her Herta’s memory to KenCrest Services: 960A Harvest Drive, Suite 100, Blue Bell Pennsylvania 19422. www.kencrest.org
