Herbert A. Weakliem, Jr. of Pennington NJ, died on January 1, 2015. Mr. Weakliem was born on March 24, 1926 and grew up in Newark NJ, attending West Side High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, mostly in the Pacific Theater. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked at the Edison Medical Gas Division for three years, and then attended Rutgers University, where he earned a BsC degree in Chemistry. He then entered Cornell University and earned a PhD in Chemistry under the guidance of Dr. J. L. Hoard. He worked at RCA Labs in Princeton NJ, as a Physical Chemist, retiring after a 28 year career; he then worked at Chronar Corp. in the solar energy field for another five years. He married Margaret Foster of Kearny, NJ in August 1955, in Kearny NJ (on the hottest day of the year). After retirement Herb and Margaret enjoyed many trips to national parks in both the US and Canada, as well as a cruise to the Galapagos Islands and a trip to Australia. He also enjoyed riding his bike throughout Hopewell Valley and Bucks County, PA. Son of Herbert and Annie (Lemercier) Weakliem, and brother of the late Vera Filby and Hazel Bottoni; he is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Margaret, and four sons scattered across the country; John (Jeannie) of Skillman NJ, David (Judith Milardo) of Wethersfield CT, Paul (Cheryl) of Santa Barbara CA and Gordon (Karyn) of Denver, CO. He is also survived by six grand children; Brian, Allyson, Jonathan, Elaina, Isabella and Adalyne. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.
