Pennington. H. Arthur Smith, 79, passed in Hamilton Grove Rehabilitation Center on Sunday. Born in Trenton, he had been a resident of Pennington for 77 years. He attended Pennington Prep School Class of 1955. Attended Rutgers University and graduated with a degree in Journalism and ROTC in 1959. He served at Fort Benjamin HarrisoN as a 1st Lieutenant in the AG Corps/Special Services from 1960-1962 and then in the Army Reserves from 1963-1965. He was a reporter for the Trenton Times covering Lawrenceville Township and then wrote the Action Line column in the Trenton Times for 19 years. After leaving the Times, he became the Public Information Officer for DMV retiring in 2002. In his free time was an avid photographer and spending time with his family and enjoyed summers in Maine. He is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Constance G. Smith, three daughters; Gail Hall (Scott) of Doylestown, PA, Joan Sanders (Paul) of Beverly, NJ and Beth Asper-Leonard (William Junior Leonard) of Brunswick, ME and six grandchildren; Justin and Brian Hall, Kevin and Christiana Sanders, Brittny and Jessica Asper. A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, at 11:00 a.m. from the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 North Main St., Pennington with the Rev. Anne Wrede, pastor of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church of Beverly, NJ officiating. Internment will be in Lawrenceville Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to The Pennington School or Doane Academy of Burlington, NJ.
