Gene P. Ramsey, 77, passed away Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, in Capital Health at Fuld. Born in Parkersburg, WV, in 1939, Gene resided in the Pennington area for 47 years. Gene was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, Class of 1957. Shortly after high school, he joined the Air Force and served until 1962 during the Cold War. After serving his country, Gene was employed by McGraw Hill, Hightstown, NJ, as a systems analyst for 36 years. After his retirement, Gene pursued his passion for astronomy by joining the Amateur Astronomers Association of Princeton, located in Washington Crossing State Park. He loved sharing his passion for exploring the wonders of the cosmos. He was involved in the outreach program and introduced astronomy to scouting groups, schools, and various other organizations. He was a key holder of the club, and helped train many new members. He also spoke at seminars and conferences about astronomy. Brother of the late Jack Ramsey, he is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dolores Mileski Ramsey; three children, Michael Ramsey of Pennington, Cindy Ramsey Williamson of Hopewell, and Joseph Ramsey of Ewing; three grandsons, Jacob Williamson, Garrett Williamson, and Logan Williamson of Hopewell; his sister, Sharon Harper and her husband, George of Harrisville, WV, and his nephew, Daniel, and many aunts and uncles. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. in St. James Church. 115 E. Delaware Ave., Pennington.
