Eleanor D. Van Driesen, 85, passed away on October 4, 2016 at Princeton University Medical Center at Plainsboro. She was born on December 22, 1930 in New York City to John and Elizabeth Tracy.
Eleanor grew up in New York City and graduated from Walton High School. After high school, she worked for Metropolitan Life Company, and for nearly 30 years, she was an employee of Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ. She retired in 1996.
Eleanor married Roger Van Driesen in 1952 in The Bronx, NY. They were happily married for 64 years. Eleanor and Roger held a family reunion on the Fourth of July for over 30 years at their home that was attended by family members from across the United States. Together, Eleanor and Roger visited many nations throughout the world, including much of Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, as well as Mexico and Argentina.
Eleanor was a member, and one-time officer, of the League of Women Voters. She was an avid gardener and was a past president of Hopewell Valley Garden Club. She enjoyed quilting.
She was a Eucharistic minister for many years at Our Lady of Good Counsel in West Trenton, NJ and, in recent years, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Whiting, NJ.
Eleanor is survived her spouse, Roger of Whiting, NJ; her daughters Karlyn Wieger and her husband Leo, and Dianne Hart; and her sons Paul and his wife Lori, and Karl and his wife Diane. She is also survived by her grandchildren Tracy, Taralynn, Melanie, Rachel, Amelia, Lauren, Colleen, and Alexander; as well as her great-grandchildren Katelyn, twins River and Brooke, Violet, and Lukas.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents and each of her five siblings.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Alphonsus Church, 54 Prospect Avenue, Hopewell, NJ at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 11th. A visitation will be held at the Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 North Main Street, Pennington, NJ from 6-8 p.m. on Monday October 10th.
