Doris D. Wert, 93, Died Tuesday June 22, 2021 at Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA
She was born in Hopewell Township and resided there until 2018 when she moved to Pennswood.
Doris graduated from Central High School of Hopewell Township and worked as a secretary for Remington Rand. While raising her family, she raised chickens and delivered eggs in Trenton with her friend, Audrey Black for several years. She was a secretary at Mobil in Hopewell Township for 10 years. Doris had a large vegetable garden every year and helped on the farm.
Doris and her late husband, Earl, were members of the Ruralites and the Y-Nots Camping
Club for many years. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church of Hopewell. She was a 4-H leader with her friend, Chris Vanselous, teaching teen girls sewing and cooking.
After her husband passed, Doris joined PEAC (Pennington Ewing Athletic Club), making new friends in the Forever Young senior group. She enjoyed Hopewell Township bus trips and outings with family and class reunions. She also enjoyed playing guitar in her early years and photography throughout her life.
Daughter of the late Lamont Reed Dye and Alice Elizabeth Sutphin, sister of the late
Elizabeth Golden and the late Margaret Klein, she is survived by daughters Sharon Wert,
Joanne Naylor (Thomas), son David Wert, daughter-in-law Laura, grandchildren Bob Allen, Jennifer Diaz, Sara Card (Dylan), Kyle and Taylor Wert, great-grandchildren Haily Allen, Emma and Lyssette Diaz and several nephews and nieces.
There will be a memorial service at 11 :00 am Saturday, June 26th at Calvary Baptist Church, 3 E Broad St, Hopewell, NJ. Interment will be private.
