Donald C Bayer

Donald Charles Bayer, 82, of Point Pleasant, NJ, and most recently Ewing, NJ, passed away on February 10 after a battle with lymphoma.

Donald was born on July 22, 1940 to James and Catherine Bayer in Orange, NJ. He grew up in North Arlington and graduated from Queen of Peace High School. He cherished his high school years, serving as captain of the football team and president of his senior class. Donald went on to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Villanova University.

Post-college, he enjoyed a career as an electrical engineer with Davy McKee (later John Brown) and the FAA, among other firms. 

Donald married Valerie Forgione Bayer in 1965 in Union, NJ, where they raised their four children, Donald Jr., Douglas, Brian and Kathryn.

Donald was a hard worker with a sharp wit. He enjoyed his work travels, which offered him a taste of life in many locations including Hawaii, Texas, Canada, Puerto Rico and Singapore. He retired at 75 after a permanent move to Point Pleasant, NJ. Some of his most cherished times include those spent at Mantoloking Beach with his immediate and extended family, especially his cousins. He also enjoyed his membership at the Bay Head Shores Club, of which he served a term as president. 

Donald was predeceased by his parents Catherine and James, and his beloved son Douglas. He is survived by his brother James Jr., his children Donald Jr., Brian and Kathryn, his son-in-law Robert Belli, and his grandchildren Charles and Kenneth, as well as endeared cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. 

Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Donald's life at Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 North Main St., Pennington (www.blackwellmh.com) on Wednesday, February 15th from 5-7pm, with services and eulogies beginning at 7pm.
