After a brief illness, Carol Dumont Wilbur, 83, of Titusville, NJ passed away on February 13 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Montana on Jan 18, 1931, her family moved to Glendale, CA where she made many lifelong friends including her husband of 55 years, Dr. Robert Wilbur. After supporting his undergraduate and doctoral studies, which gave her great pride and a life-long sense of accomplishment, she relocated with her husband to the east cost, eventually settling in Titusville, NJ. In the ensuing 50 years, Carol fostered many enduring relationships and the Wilbur household became a center of lively social engagement and discourse. The front door was always open to welcome every stray person- or animal- that wandered by. Her eclectic sense of style was apparent in everything she did. Always fashion forward, she also wove a rich tapestry into the social fabric around her. She possessed a generous heart that made children and adults welcome, wanted and loved. Family, friends and neighbors all looked forward to the next holiday or weekend get-together where Carol's gregarious spirit and penchant for dance could lift the hearts of those around her and energize the party. It is testament to her character that her children and their spouses all set down local roots. Carol is predeceased by her loving husband. She is survived by her three daughters, Wendy Gregory and husband Thomas; Diana Chmiel and husband Joseph; and Patricia French and husband Chris; eight grandchildren, Nate and Amy Gregory, Justin and Julia Gregory, and Kaitlyn Gregory, Megan and Sara Chmiel, and Chelsea, Kelly and Matthew French; two great grandchildren Sonja and Briana Gregory; and all those who considered hers a second home. Carol's family would like to thank all of the outpouring of sympathy and support with her passing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carol's name to a charity of your choice. A celebration of her life is scheduled for March 22.
