Carmen ‘Zaida’ Serrano, 81, of Trenton, NJ entered into God’s care August 27th, 2022.
She was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico and remained a long time Trenton area resident. Carmen was a retired child care provider for 30 years, as well as a devoted housewife. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was also an active member of the Puerto Rican Community Association, a social club in South Broad Street, Trenton, NJ for over 35 years.
She is survived by her husband Radael Serrano and her children Sandy Andujar, Porfirio (Paul) and Jacqueline Ortiz, AnneMarie (Anita), DonnaMarie (Molli), Maricella (Goldy), and Jorge (Trivi) Rivera; her grandchildren Jonathan, Angel, Daniela, Ariana, and Stalin (Chiquitin); her great grandchild Sebastian; her siblings Jose (Toñito), Iran, Adrian, Cecilio (Junito), Milagro, Miriam, Carmen Zaida, and many more family members and friends.
Carmen loved trips to Atlantic City, playing bingo with friends, traveling, and listening to music from her favorite artists, including Juan Gabriel, Rocio Dúrcal, and Marc Anthony. She also enjoyed interior design, hosting and party planning for her loved ones.
Visitation will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral Church on Warren Street in Trenton, NJ on Friday September 2nd from 8am until the time of Mass at 10:00am.
Burial will follow directly after the Mass at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton Avenue, Trenton, NJ in the family plot.

Nació en Utuado, Puerto Rico y permaneció mucho tiempo como residente del área de Trenton. Carmen era una cuidadora de niños jubilada y ama de casa. Fue una amorosa esposa, madre y abuela. También fue miembro activo de la Asociación de la Comunidad Puertorriqueña, un club social en South Broad Street, Trenton, NJ durante más de 35 años.

A Carmen le encantaban los viajes a Atlantic City, jugar bingo con amigos, viajar y escuchar música de sus artistas favoritos, incluidos Juan Gabriel, Rocio Dúrcal y Marc Anthony. También disfrutó del diseño de interiores, y la planificación de fiestas para sus seres queridos.
El velorio se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia Catedral de St. Mary en Warren Street en Trenton, el Viernes 2 de Septiembre, y comenzará a las 8AM hasta la hora de la Misa, que terminará a las 10:00AM.
El entierro seguirá directamente después de la Misa en el Cementerio Greenwood, Hamilton Avenue, Trenton, NJ en el panteón familiar.
