Carmen F. Barbato (HAMILTON TOWNSHIP) - Carmen F. Barbato, Age 83, of Hamilton Township, passed away on Friday, May. 7, 2021, in Hamilton Township, NJ. Born on August 3, 1937 in Trenton, NJ. Carmen spent most of his life in Chambersburg, but has been a resident of Hamilton Township for the last 20 years.
He was employed by the City of Trenton as the Recreation Director at the Sam Naples Community Center in Chambersburg until 2001. Carmen was a member of the Chambersburg Social Club and the Chambersburg Hunting Club. He was a significant contributor to fundraising activities at St. Joachim’s Parish and School in Trenton and most recently a member of Saint Raphael/Holy Angels Parish in Hamilton. He was inducted into the Trenton Softball Hall of Fame in 1998 and was a dedicated baseball/softball coach and a mentor to many. He acquired many nicknames over the years such as Father, Big Carm, The Vacuum, The Kat and The Sheet Man. He was a lifelong Yankees fan, enjoyed playing “Let It Ride” in Atlantic City and spending time with his family was most important to him.
Son of the late Antonio and Mary Conti Barbato, brother of the late Constance Barbato Resater, Antonio, Joseph and Gennaro Barbato, son-in-law of the late Pierina Marie Vannozzi and Alphonso Olimpio, brother-in-law of the late Marie Olimpio Kostinas (George Kostinas); he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Genevieve Olimpio Barbato; his sister Maryann Barbato Bilardo (Ronald Bilardo) and sister-in-law Patricia Logan Barbato; his daughters LuAnne DeAngelis (Joseph Signoretta), Cindy Barbato Foster (Don Foster), Maria Ippolito (Jay Kiernan) and Robin Mizsak (George Mizsak) and son Carmen Barbato (Carisa Barbato).
Beloved Pop-pop of 13 grandchildren to the late Gia Marie DeAngelis; and is survived by Bianca DeAngelis Shaw (Justin Shaw), Marisa DeAngelis Ongaro (David Ongaro), Alexa DeAngelis, Ryan and Gillian Foster, Franco and Cara Ippolito, Haley and Stephen Mizsak, CJ, Christian and Caden Barbato and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Wednesday May 12th, 2021, from 6:00-9:00pm at St. Raphael’s Church, 3500 South Broad Street Hamilton Township, NJ 08610.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday May 13th at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael’s Church.
