Candace Housner Burd, 72, of Ocean Village in Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022.
Candy was born on August 30th, 1949, in New Jersey. She grew up in Pennington, NJ, then resided in Roxboro, NC for 40+ years where she was a long-time teacher and counselor. Candy and her husband, Doug then retired to her favorite place, Ocean Village. Candy and Doug celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2021. She enjoyed laughing, spending time with friends, fashion, traveling, and cooking. She also loved competing and playing bocce’ with her “Tiki Tribe” friends several times a week. Candy was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church in Roxboro, NC and First Church of Fort Pierce, FL.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Doug Burd; two children: Daughter, Ticia (Chad) Hicks and son, Blake (Brittany) Burd; grandchildren: Makenzie, Tyler, Carly, and Camden. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard & Gwen Housner and sister Cheryl Housner.
A visitation will be held on July 15th, at Blackwell Memorial Home, 21 N. Main St., Pennington, NJ 08534. Receiving of family & friends will begin at 10:00am, and services will begin at 11:00am. Immediately following the service, everyone is welcomed to attend a graveside service at Harbourton Cemetery, 1516 Harbourton Rocktown Rd., Lambertville, NJ 08530. The family requests that everyone please wear the brightest colors you have to share in celebrating Candy’s colorful lifestyle.
