Sween, Birger Michael. Former Superior Court Judge, passed away on January 16, 2016 in South Brunswick. He was 86 years old. He was born in Englewood and was a resident of Woodcliff Lake for 47 years. He earned his JD degree at Rutgers University while attending night School. Michael served two years with the U.S. Armed Forces in France. He then practiced law in Hackensack, NJ and was an attorney for Municipal, County and State agencies. In 1982 he was appointed to the New Jersey Superior Court. He served as Presiding Judge of the Family Division of the Court until he retired at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine Bayley Sween, his children K. Holly Sween, Eric Sween and Randi Radtke and his granddaughters, Kristen Sween-Semanchik, Kayla Sween and Sarah Papay.
