Abelina "Pina" Schonheiter

Abelina “Pina” Rodriguez Schonheiter, age 89, peacefully passed away on August 4th in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Pina was born in Westfield, Massachusetts, in July of 1934. Her parents, Isaac and Abelina, immigrated from Spain; Pina was the second youngest of 9 children. After secretarial school, Pina worked at a preschool, where she met Arthur, the love of her life. They married in 1956 and moved to Mercersburg PA where they started their family. In 1971 they moved to Lawrenceville NJ, where she lived out the rest of her days.

Aside from devoting most of her time raising her 6 daughters, she loved playing tennis, bridge, and baking (Pina’s Pies!), knitting, sewing, and reading. She was crafty and clever and loved a good laugh with her dear friends, of which she had many. She gave her time and talents to the church, The Lawrenceville School, The Women’s Club, HomeFront and many other organizations.

Pina is survived by her husband Arthur Schonheiter; her daughters Nina Porter, Trudi O’Grady (Jim), Jill Hendershott (Steve), Ellen Schonheiter, Pattie Wolfson (Jon)  and Jenny Sercer (Nick); 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren

Funeral services for Pina will be held at 11am, Saturday, August 19th, at The Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville.
